Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 May 2026. This policy explains how Blue Sure processes your personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who we are

Blue Sure is a behaviour-led insurance and investment comparison platform. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here. Questions or requests can be directed to our Information Officer at privacy@bluesure.co.za.

Information we collect

To produce your risk score and comparative quotes, we collect:

  • Identity & contact: name, SA ID number, date of birth, email, cellphone.
  • Employment & income band.
  • Insurance & claims history; driving record.
  • Location, vehicle and property details (including home-security features).
  • Lifestyle indicators and in-app behaviour-game analytics.

How we use it

Your information is used solely to calculate a personalised risk assessment and to generate comparative insurance and investment quotes. We do not sell your personal information. Quote figures are indicative and not a binding offer of cover.

Consent

You provide consent when you submit your profile. Where the platform requests consent for a credit-bureau check, that check is only performed once the relevant integration is enabled; until then no credit data is requested. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data (below).

Where your information is stored

Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, access-scoped so that only your authenticated account can read or write it. API access is rate-limited and protected against automated abuse. We are progressively adding field-level encryption for the most sensitive fields (such as your SA ID number).

Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed:

  • Active profiles: retained while your account is active.
  • Inactive profiles: reviewed for deletion after 24 months of inactivity.
  • On your request: deleted immediately (see below).

Your rights (POPIA)

You have the right to access, correct, object to, and delete your personal information. You can erase everything we hold for you at any time using the “Delete all my data” control on your dashboard. This permanently removes your profile (including your SA ID), risk score and behaviour history.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
